In the Gamest Mook The Best Game 2 (1998) it was chosen as one of "The Best Games", recognised as a classic, outstanding, brilliant title. The writer Zenji Ishii pointed out that the game has the simple rule of merely wiping out the enemies and that no special system exists in it, but he said that its interest lies in the way the enemies judge the distance to the player and confront the player with a simulated intelligence.
