Kunpei Ando, who was in charge of the original concept and the scenario, has said that Chikyu Boei Shojo Iko-chan: UFO Daisakusen, released for the PC-98, developed out of Idol Hakkenden and was made as an extension of it.

Another said that the game was fun but was skeptical on recommend purchasing the title as the gameplay period was very short.

In the 1998 Japanese book The Amazing B-Game's Revenge, the author describes the graphics as "good enough for an old game," but criticizes it for its "outdated gags" and "wordplay so bad it makes you go limp.

In the "Cross Review" feature of the magazine Famitsu, the four reviewers gave 5, 7, 7, and 5, for a total of 24 out of 40. One reviewer commented, "it was a little disappointing that it was too easy, but in a sense it was a gaming experience that made the scales fall from my eyes".

In a 2007 reader poll in Game Side on the Famicom titles readers wanted distributed on the Wii, it placed 3rd, and it is still rated more than ten years on.
