When it was carried in Compile's disk magazine Disc Station, someone in Compile's public relations department became hooked on playing it, and seeing this, company president Niitani decided to turn it into a commercial product.
As of 2021, the rights to the game are held by D4 Enterprise, but when the Family Computer version was distributed on the iOS app PicoPico on 2021-1-18, the title was changed to simply Pipeline Daisakusen.
