It was Konami's first baseball game for a home console, from the company that would later dominate the genre with the Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu series (1994). Baseball (a port of the cartridge version) already existed as a Disk System baseball game, but this was also the first baseball game original to the Disk System.
