According to Toshiyuki Takahashi, known as Takahashi Meijin, who was then in the publicity department at Hudson, after the hit of Lode Runner, Hudson considered releasing one of the remaining 2 titles of the so called Bungeling Empire trilogy, that is, either Choplifter or Raid on Bungeling Bay, and the latter, which the staff found more interesting, was the one that was ported.
Regarding the existence of the limited edition of this software, Takahashi Meijin, a former Hudson employee, also said "I had forgotten that it existed" in a comment (9/2/2008) on his blog entry dated 9/1/2008.
Speaking on the programme X Nen Go no Kankeisha-tachi, broadcast on 2021-10-12, Takahashi Meijin said that Hudson often ran events with the magazine CoroCoro Comic, and that this connection led to the company making a game based on the work of Fujiko Fujio, who also had close ties with CoroCoro Comic.
According to Takahashi Meijin, then in Hudson's publicity department, the game did not reach its sales target.
