Madō Monogatari — stories left

Episode 1 was ported and remade for several home game consoles as a standalone work, but Episodes 2 and 3 were ported and remade on their own only for the Game Gear and mobile phone apps, and the scenario of Episode 3 was also greatly changed.

Because of capacity limits only Arle is voiced, and several presentational changes were made in the port: a bug that let the player go off screen at "Kabe no Moto" was fixed, and the mini zombies shrink instead of having their bodies collapse.

The version included in Kyukyoku Taizen Tsuu -MD & DS had, at launch, the same bug as the early version of the original, and corrected data was distributed later, whereas the version in Chou Kyukyoku Taizen contains the corrected version from the start.

Because the staff in charge of development were changed, the eerie side disappeared entirely and it became like a slapstick comedy.

Development of this game began around the time of the Game Gear version of II, and at first Episodes 2 and 3 were also planned to be ported as sequels.

When it was first announced, it was to be a remake of Episodes 2 and 3 of 1-2-3, in which Arle leaves her home and heads for the magic school, but production did not progress, partly owing to Compile's business failure, and in the retail version the scenario was greatly changed.

For that reason, in the Project EGG port and elsewhere the name was changed to "Auruguma".

At first it was announced that it was set a thousand years after Madō Monogatari.

At first it was serialised simply under the title Madō Monogatari, but around the time advance sales of Disc Station Re#01 began in 2015 it was retitled Madō Monogatari - Mano to Fushigi no Boushi -.

Madō Monogatari A.R.S (PC-98): released 1993-12-10 - 3 stories with the 3 characters Arle, Rulue and Schezo as protagonists.

On 2019-9-19 it was included, together with the related title Puyo Puyo Tsu, as one of the 42 titles preinstalled on the Japanese version of the Mega Drive Mini, a reissue game console released by Sega Games.

As the 2nd release in the "Madō Monogatari Revival Project", it was sold from 2008-9-1 in a limited production run of 2000 copies.

All 4 are ports based on the Game Gear versions, and do not have the additional elements of the mobile phone app versions.

On 1990-7-20 it was released on its own as Madoushi Larva: Compilation Edition, which collected the series into 1 titles and strengthened the content by adding scenarios, treated as the DS special issue DX#2.

It is an original story whose protagonists are Mano, Chikako and Kaede, 3 fledgling apprentice sorceresses living in "Lucrelia", a town of sorcerers in the east, and the 3 of them served as navigators for the official Compile Station site until it was renewed on 2014-10-3.

The version included in Vol.3 has some defects in its sampling driver that cause graphical corruption and freezing, so in order to play it normally a bug fix using the "Bug Mansion (correction patch)" bundled with Vol.4, released 1994-10-7 (issued 11-15), is required.

As for Madō Monogatari Michikusa Ibun, at the time of release the same defects as in the uncorrected version of the original were confirmed, and a warning and a way of dealing with it were announced at the support centre on the official D4 Enterprise site.

It is the only work in the "Madō Monogatari" series to be released on Nintendo hardware.

Because its release was greatly delayed, this game became the last cartridge software released for the Mega Drive in Japan.

It is the last work in the Madō Monogatari series to be released by Compile.

It is D4 Enterprise's first completely new game title for packaged release, and at the same time the first new title in a former Compile game series to be released since Compile Heart acquired the business rights.

Because it took so long to reach release, rumours spread at the time that it had been cancelled, along with the Mega CD version of Shadowrun, but Compile later announced that it was not cancelled in development but postponed.

Madō Denki ( ) is an original work included in the Korean version of " (Disc Station) Vol.5", released in Korea on 1998-3-20, and is a Madō Monogatari title never released in Japan.
